Zoho now allows Facebook login

Zoho announced on its blog this week that it was allowing Facebook users to use their Facebook login to access Zoho content, effectively giving Zoho access to Facebook's massive 400 million user community.

Zoho's Raju Vegesna (whom we interviewed One on One last year) wrote on the company blog that given that 30 percent of Zoho's users are students, this integration makes perfect sense. It gives users direct access to Zoho services within Facebook, making it according to Vegesna, the first Facebook office suite. What's more, it enables users to share Zoho documents with users who might not have Zoho accounts.

If someone sends you a document from a service where you have to sign up to access it, that could be a threshold that's too high for many users. By allowing users to use their Facebook login, it saves them the step of having to create an account. Zoho also allows users to use logins from Google, Google Apps and Yahoo! giving it broad integration across a variety of popular web services.

In a market where it's often difficult to gain any significant market share or attention, this is a smart move by Zoho to piggy back on the user base of popular services like Facebook. If even a fraction of the Facebook community adopts Zoho, it would likely give them a big boost in user numbers. Zoho has continually shown the ability to be creative to develop its market and this just another example of that.
