StoredIQ develops classification-driven access control

StoredIQ has come up with a new way to give legal teams access to data, even before finalizing a collection. StoredIQ describes it as follows:

"The new feature allows companies to create a classification that represents the data to be reviewed by the legal team prior to finalizing collection and preservation decisions--without having to move data or temporarily change the security privileges on each system for each file or email that needs to be reviewed."

This could be a huge time-saver in a process that tends to be time intensive.

Christine Taylor, an analyst with Taneja Group likes this approach and sees it as a way to address some key challenges companies face early in the eDiscovery process around access and classification. "One of the greatest security challenges when conducting compliance audits, internal investigations or early case assessment for litigation is controlling who has access to what information located across the enterprise." Taylor said. Taylor sees this solution as unique in several ways. "It allows the legal and IT teams to work closely together early in the process; it doesn't demand any movement of data to analyze the content prior to collection and preservation, and it ensure precise access to the right set of data."

These points are all important because companies can do all of this work up front before the real searching begins. It can save them time and energy spent working with a raw data set.  Keith Zoellner, Chief Technology Officer at StoredIQ points out that "Now very precise and accurate views of data, based on content, can be accessed by select individuals or groups quickly with minimal administration effort." And anything that can save time in the eDiscovery process, is a positive step.
