Slideshare deepens LinkedIn Integration

Last week Slideshare announced increased integration with LinkedIn, the professional social network. Slideshare provides a place for people to share their slide presentations online.

You've been able to display your Slideshare content in LinkedIn since 2008 using the Slideshare app. This new integration includes a Share on LinkedIn button on the SlideShare site. When you click the button, the Slideshare link gets added to your LinkedIn update stream where all of your contacts can see it.

What's more, you can now view the Slideshare presentation right in your update stream instead of clicking a link to go to the Slideshare site, making it much more convenient to view the presentations without an extra step. This is similar to the way Gmail plays YouTube videos embedded in the email, rather than forcing you to go to YouTube to watch.

Slideshare has also added a dedicated Slideshare.net page on LinkedIn, allowing LinkedIn members to view the page to find the latest and most popular presentations.

This kind of deeper integration should work well for users of both services, and it's another example of cloud services working together to make it easier for users to share content across cloud services more easily.
