SDL launches new predictive technology tool

Last week SDL launched SDL Global Authoring Management SystemTM 2010, which features new AutoSuggest technology. AutoSuggest works like automatic suggestion systems in email, search and browsers; but it suggests text based on the entry. This is aimed at technical documentation professionals with the hope of making document production more efficient and to provide consistent wording across documents.

Many companies produce documents for a variety of products that have lots of matching content with subtle differences across a product line. This type of technology ensures that the products have the same wording without having to resort to copy and paste from another document or searching for the paragraph in question.

While many companies shoot for reusing content, it's actually much more difficult in practice than the theory would suggest, and this technology provides a way to automate reuse.

Alan Sloan, CEO of SDL Language Technologies division says that this will help companies under pressure to produce documentation quickly while reducing the errors inherent in a process that has to be done under time constraints. "With AutoSuggest technology built into SDL Global Authoring Management System, global organizations can create content faster than ever before, as well as ensuring consistent and high-quality communications with their customers."
