Rosette 7 multilingual text analytics works with Lucene/Solr

Basis Technologies unveiled the latest version of its multilingual text analytics tool this week, Rosette 7. Highlights of the new release include improved entity extraction accuracy, new name matching and translation modules, and native integration with open source search tool Apache Lucene/Solr. The tool provides a way to extract text in multiple languages across a range of tools including content management systems, eDiscovery and general business intelligence applications.

Sue Feldman, an analyst who covers enterprise search for IDC says that it's a mistake to dismiss text analytics as an academic exercise, as it has increasingly become part of the mainstream tool set for many enterprise settings. "It has become a necessary component in most search and discovery software--from selling products, tracking terrorists, delivering news or playing music--to improving communication among people worldwide"

This means that more companies have to employ this type of technology to stay on top of their information, especially as it gets spread out across multiple repositories in multiple languages. Feldman says, "IDC believes that we are in the midst of a profound change in the way text analytic and search software is created and deployed. Basis Technology's new Rosette 7 platform ups the ante with its improvements in accuracy, enabling its customers to power a new breed of intelligent workspace applications."

The product includes special tools for name indexing and translation and works across multiple languages. Arabic, Chinese, Farsi and Urdu are among the languages that have been added to the latest package. The product is available now for evaluation.
