PowerInbox brings apps to email
PowerInbox announced a new product last week that brings apps to the inbox, meaning instead of clicking a link that brings you outside your email to go to a website, you can interact using an app right inside the email.
For example, you could respond to a tweet right inside the email instead of going to Twitter.com or opening your Twitter client. It's like operating inside a live version of Twitter embedded right in the email.
PowerInbox is actually an API and partners connect to the API to create an app that will run theirweb site or service right inside the email. Matt Thazhmon, founder and CEO of PowerInbox says this is a great productivity enhancer. "All this back-and-forth drains productivity and effectiveness. PowerInbox lets people stay where interaction begins--inside emails," Thazhmon explained.
There are already 10 different ones including Fundraise, which lets readers make donations without leaving the email, or TimeTrade that lets you schedule meetings inside emails. You get the idea.
