OpenText brings social collaboration tools to the cloud

OpenText has announced that two of its social collaboration tools will now be available as part of the company's OpenText Cloud.

The announcement came this week during OpenText's Enterprise World 2012 conference in Orlando, Florida.

OpenText Tempo Social is a social collaboration solution featuring social feeds, communities and dashboards. The company also unveiled the OpenText Tempo Box for the cloud. The new Box cloud edition helps users store and share documents and other information across multiple devices, with industry-level security. The Box also allows for mobile syncing between devices.

One of the main concerns businesses have with cloud solutions today is the level of security they provide. OpenText said its cloud addresses that concern, by providing easy to use collaboration solutions with enterprise-level security protections.

"Social collaboration combined with secure information storing, sharing and syncing across multiple devices is resonating with users, but consumer clouds are creating headaches for organizations that need enterprise-class security to protect their information" said Steve Hunt, OpenText CIO.

The company also announced this week the OpenText Cloud for Enterprise Information Management. The Open Text Cloud provides deployment support and help with things like application management, security and upgrades.

OpenText touts its cloud as the only "purpose-built cloud environment for EIM that delivers EIM services and applications."
