Open Text releases Vignette upgrade

As we wrote about mid-year, Open Text has formally announced the new version of its Vignette web content management product.

While they don't come right out and call it "Web Development for Dummies," Vignette Content Management 8 adds an ergonomic design that makes it easier for business users to create websites, microsites and landing pages on demand, while staying within branding and technical guidelines, the company said. "The ergonomic design caters to specific personas in marketing or other departments, providing tools, designs and other resources based on their roles. This critical functionality brings speed and flexibility to marketing teams--a new level of agility that can make the difference in competitive efforts to reach customers via the web," the company said.

Vignette had announced the update last July, shortly after it announced its acquisition by Open Text for $310 million.

In addition, Open Text announced Open Text Capture Center version 4.0, with enhanced document classification and data capture capabilities and improved integration with the Open Text ECM Suite. Capture Center 4, formerly Captaris DOKuStar Capture Suite, includes machine and hand print recognition with voting character recognition engines, optical character recognition (OCR), intelligent character recognition (ICR), intelligent document recognition (IDR), magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) and other special font recognition, rule based and learning document classification, adaptive recognition, and free-form data extraction.
