Nuxeo Platform 5.5 goes social and mobile
This week Nuxeo announced the release of Nuxeo Platform 5.5, which builds on its strategy to provide a content management platform on which companies can build applications and services to serve the individual needs of an organization. This release includes new mobile and social components.
The social component provides a way for Nuxeo customers to add collaboration tools to the Nuxeo experience. Mustapha Alouani, service research and development manager at École Centrale Paris (ECP), a French engineering school, says being able to collaborate is essential for his organization. "The new social collaboration features are pivotal to the cooperation and sharing of knowledge between our many different communities of students, teachers and researchers," he said.
In addition, Nuxeo has added support for Android device integration by including an Android client SDK and providing API access to several services including client-side storage and authentication capabilities, among others.
Finally, Nuxeo has tried to simplify the developer experience to make it easier to build applications on top of the platform. Kathleen Reidy of the 451 Group says this open, flexible platform approach is a real differentiator for Nuxeo. "Nuxeo's bundling of platform and application technology, along with the ability for customers to select or deselect modules during installation, is meant to help architects match the application to functional and technical project requirements, and lay the foundation for future changes," she said.
The Nuxeo Platform is offered in on-premise and Platform as a Service (PaaS) versions. It's available now.
