One of the strengths of open source is a community of committed individuals and organizations working to improve the product and the new version of Nuxeo DM 5.4.2, released today, is a shining example of that.

One Nuxeo partner, Gagnavarslan, an ECM solution provider in Iceland, contributed a Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) protocol. Using this connector, the Nuxeo repository can be mapped as a drive under MS Windows (and according to the statement Mac OS X), providing a way to integrate a Nuxeo content repository in a company running Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Windows.

Jonas Sigurosson, Development Manager at Gagnavarslan explained in a statement that his customers required Microsoft integration. "We are building a range of ECM services based on Nuxeo, and our clients need a smooth desktop integration into an existing Microsoft Windows infrastructure," he said.

Nuxeo, continuing its support for open standards, is now fully compatible with OpenSocial and OAuth, as well as HTML 5, WebDAV and CMIS.

And to that end, Nuxeo customer Leroy Merlin, a French company, contributed enhancements to the OpenSocial integration that Nuxeo reports makes the OpenSocial gadget dashboard faster and allows users to add more gadgets with a wider variety of dashboard layout options.

In addition, there are a variety of other updates, which include HTML5 drag and drop support and the ability to configure local domains separately from the main site.
