Nuxeo adds two semantic search modules
Open source content management vendor Nuxeo took another big step this week when it announced two new semantic search modules have been added to its online app store, Nuxeo Marketplace.
The two modules are designed to help Nuxeo customers enhance applications built on top of Nuxeo's open source content management platform. Nuxeo's CMO Cheryl McKinnon, speaking least week at Gilbane 2010 in Boston, has long seen the Marketplace as a big differentiator for her company.
In addition, she has often said that the idea of a broad platform with a set of basic functionality built on open source and using open standards on top of which companies can build customized applications.
She sees the semantic modules as building on this vision. The latest announcement consists of two modules: an Automated Document Categorization package, designed to help automatically create document metadata, and a Semantic Linking package, which is a document analysis and data extraction tool based on Apache Stanbol.
These two modules add to the growing body of work from Nuxeo and provide the tools for building advanced search and data extraction in an open source wrapper.
