With the annual Microsoft SharePoint 2011 Conference underway in Anaheim, Calif., there's been a flood of SharePoint news as Microsoft partners roll out new offerings to compliment the platform.

NewsGator and Colligo Networks were among the SharePoint partners introducing new offerings prior to the Oct. 3-6 conference. The companies announced they are joining forces to merge social computing, email management and document repository content. NewsGator will head the social piece of the offering, while Colligo will provide email management solutions in SharePoint.

The solution allows users to upload emails and attachments to social communities, giving colleagues the opportunity to interact with the content. "Enterprise search capabilities streamline collaboration by making it simple to find emails, documents, and the social conversations around them. This vital intellectual property can be easily tagged and centrally stored, improving retention and findability, and ensuring preparedness for e-discovery initiatives," explains a press release from the companies.

SpringCM is also trying to capitalize on social in SharePoint. The company released an update to its cloud enterprise content management platform Sept. 28, with new features for collaboration and enhanced SharePoint capabilities. SpringCM's social enhancements center around task management, activity streams and notifications and use SharePoint Web Parts to pull in relevant content from SpringCM into department or project SharePoint sites.

"With cloud content management, we're making it simple for business people to start collaborating when they want, and to choose where, that is, in what applications they want," said Roger Bottum, vice president of marketing at SpringCM in a statement. "We also are making it easy for them to manage the whole interaction, not just the content."

ECM-solutions provider KnowledgeLake unveiled its "Cloud-ready" roadmap, which features offerings for the Microsoft Windows Azure platform. KnowledgeLake is extending its integration of ABBYY's OCR to become the first complete capture and imaging solution for SharePoint available in both cloud and on premise deployments, says the company. KnowledgeLake will launch KnowledgeLake Capture Online 1.0 for Microsoft Windows Azure in 2012.

MetaVis Technologies announced Sept. 28 it will offer enterprise-class SaaS SharePoint migration. MetaVis Online also plans to offer companies hybrid--premise based and hosted--SharePoint environments. MetaVis Online pricing will start at $250 for SharePoint to Office 365 SharePoint Online, and the company is offering a free trial.

HP (NYSE: HPQ) is also approaching SharePoint with an eye toward services. Last week it introduced consulting services it says will maximize client investments in collaboration platforms, such as SharePoint 2010, by improving productivity and information sharing. HP's collaboration consulting services will join the other offerings in the HP Virtual Workplace suite.

More SharePoint announcements will likely be trickling out of Anaheim as the event continues this week.
