MarkLogic releases MarkLogic Server 4.2
This week, MarkLogic released version 4.2 of the Mark Logic Server product introducing several new features including MarkLogic Information Studio, the industry's first (according to them) ETL (extract, transformation and loading) tool for managing unstructured information, as well as new database replication and recovery features.
MarkLogic has always had an intriguing approach and this new version provides more tools for dealing with content using XML underpinnings.
Even before this release, MarkLogic reported record third quarter earnings.
The new version gives administrators more control over the database enabling them to replicate the database and then roll back to an earlier version should something go wrong.
On the search side, new features include the ability to return a set of distinctive terms from a document or across a sequence of nodes, and "Proximity Boost," a feature that measures search relevance based on the proximity of terms within a document.
Darin McBeath, director, disruptive technologies, at publisher Elsevier is particularly excited about the new search functions. "MarkLogic 4.2 will definitely use the proximity boost and document length weighting to give more relevant search results across all kinds of searches and documents. I am also excited about finding distinctive terms for a document--that has lots of applications around results clustering and visualization," McBeath said.
MarkLogic Server 4.2 is available for download immediately.
