KnowledgeTree adds Android app
This week KnowledgeTree went portable introducing an Android app for tablets and phones that provides mobile access to the KnowledgeTree repository from supported devices.
The company also announced FolderSync, a new tool that keeps documents on the desktop synced with the cloud automatically.
KnowledgeTree CEO Daniel Chalef says the company is targeting mobile professionals like lawyers who might need access to the most recent documents while away from the office. "Now CFOs, legal counsels, attorneys, accountants and other business professionals have a complete suite of document management tools, which means they are always are on the same page wherever they are, and ultimately making them more productive," he said.

Jason Verge, a research analyst at Tier 1 thinks this is a tool that mid-market professionals need. "[These companies] want a cost-effective and easy-to-use product that goes beyond file sharing to address business requirements like mobile access and document lifecycle management, including workflows. We're seeing increased popularity in newer software-as-a-service (SaaS) offerings designed specifically for small-to-midsized businesses that provide an alternative to traditional content management systems," he said.
This is a necessary step for KnowledgeTree to take and one that gives their customers the tools to use the KnowledgeTree functionality in a mobile setting, but Android is just one step, and I would hope they would add iOS support in the future because I'm betting that a lot of the professionals they are targeting are using iPhones and iPads on the road.
