Jahia 6.1 includes semantic search tool

Jahia 6.1 was released this week and comes packed full of meaningful and useful enhancements including enhanced search, SEO tools and a new social module.

The search tools include a new open source semantic search product from IKS, an open source semantic search platform designed for small- to medium-size projects like Jahia. Even though this is still an emerging project, Jahia is one of the first web content management vendors to take advantage of features like semantically driven tag clouds. They also included faceted search, taxonomy-driven navigation and also provides the classic "Did you mean" functionality to help users find information even when they spell a search keyword incorrectly.

The SEO module provides a way to create search-enhanced URLs and the new social module includes an enhanced blogging tool, a newsletter tool for sending out emails to communities or for marketing campaigns and a form builder tool, but there is no mention of profiles, micro-blogging or other typical social tools.

The upgrade was financed by two of Jahia's clients, which Elie Auvray, CEO of Jahia Solutions Group, says gives credence to its pay or contribute development model. "As 'Pay or Contribute' program members, they influenced the Jahia roadmap and guaranteed their investment by securing long term support and evolution within the ecosystem of Jahia users," Auvray said.
