Guidance Software reveals update for EnCase eDiscovery platform

EnCase eDiscovery version 4 was released this week with a focus on better meeting the many stages of the digital investigation process, while accelerating the speed of the process and minimizing risk. Legal and IT teams that leverage in-house electronic discovery systems are the target consumers for the latest update from Guidance Software.

The unified eDiscovery platform claims to reduce time and money that would typically be spent on integrating incompatible point solutions and transferring data between disparate systems. The software instead uses shared data repositories and purpose-built interfaces for an easily repeatable and defensible process.

"Unlike point products that increase risk by forcing organizations to transfer case information from point solution to point solution," said Guidance CEO Victor Limongelli, in a statement, it "unifies steps across the eDiscovery process enabling legal and IT to collaborate."

The software also features "early case assessment," which enables a comprehensive view of data, through test search criteria, prior to the collection of electronically stored information. Many eDiscovery platforms, only allow analysis and review once the collection process is complete, says Guidance.
