FatWire announced this week that it was releasing version 2.0 of the FatWire Mobility Server. This product has been designed to make it easier for companies to create a single website and easily adapt it for a mobile phones, tablets and other mobile devices.

Kathleen Reidy, an analyst at 451 Group sees a mobile presence as increasingly important for organizations. "With the explosive growth in mobile web connectivity, the mobile web has become an essential tool for organizations," Reidy said.

But she adds, it's not enough to simply have a presence. "A mobile web presence that is rich, engaging and efficiently managed will be a significant driver of a positive customer experience, and successful business initiatives," she said.

I think Reidy's right. I know as a user it's extremely aggravating to access a website on my smartphone when it's not tuned for a mobile device. It's hard to read and if there is interaction, it's difficult to enter or select information. This product is supposed to help alleviate those problems.

The new product lets you edit all your content regardless of where it will appear in one interface, then preview it for a variety of mobile devices. It also claims to automate the process of preparing diverse types of content, including video, for virtually any type of mobile handset.

FatWire considers the ability to take content and make it mobile to be a key component of its web content management arsenal.
