EZ Systems joins forces with Apple on video publishing package

More and more open source vendors are teaming up with mainstream companies on deals that benefit both partners. Just last week, open source CMS vendor Alfresco announced that it was the CMS behind Acrobat.com. On the heels of that announcement comes one from EZ Systems, an open source web content management company, that it's partnering with Apple on a digital asset management and video web publishing package for Apple's Final Cut Studio and Final Cut Studio Server products. The EZ Systems piece of the solution will enable video production teams "to immediately reuse video assets on multiple pages and to multiple channels, such as over the web or the iPhone, through a single interface," an EZ Systems press release boasts. "Videos can be embedded to existing news or content and integrated into the editorial schedule and pre-planned content flow."

While the partnership itself is important, what's more interesting is the continuing movement of open-source products into mainstream computing. Final Cut is one of the premiere video editing packages. For EZ Systems to partner with a company of Apple's stature is huge, and represents another giant step for EZ Systems as a company. EZ Systems and Apple will be taking the show on the road this fall, as they travel throughout Europe to publicize the partnership and formally introduce it to the public.
