eZ announced eZ Publish 4.6 this week and it's chock full of enhancements, especially for an interim release like this.

For starters, eZ has made it easier to develop mobile applications across a variety of platforms including iOS and Android. eZ is acknowledging the growing importance of the mobile channel. As they wrote in a statement, it's not enough to simply provide a phone number and a website anymore. Your company has to be available on mobile devices as well and the new mobile kit provides a way to do that.

As we've written here before search is a key component in content management because no matter how good the content may be, you have to find it, and as companies develop ever more content, search becomes even more important. The latest version of eZ Publish has open source search engine Solr 3.x fully integrated.

In addition, as a result of recent purchases by eZ, the product also includes new recommendation and analytics tools to help you customize the user experience after you build the basic website.

There are also enhancements to the product APIs, networking, image handling and more.
