Endeca makes ecommerce suite mobile
This week Endeca, announced a new product designed to help companies move their Endeca search-driven website to a mobile platform. The package is designed to make it easy for existing Endeca ecommerce customers to make their websites mobile-friendly.
Endeca says the package is designed so that customers can move easily from the dot-com site to a mobile-friendly application or site using the same tools and without requiring special programming.
Tom Nawara, vice president of digital strategy & design at Acquity Group, a consulting company that helps customers deliver content across multiple channels, thinks this will help deliver a consistent experience (at least when using Endeca). "...with the launch of Endeca Mobile Commerce, we can offer our customers a complete, unified commerce solution that helps us create a consistent multichannel user experience."
Among the advantages Endeca claims with this approach are a consistent user experience, regardless of whether you access the site via the web on a PC or from a mobile device, control with a common management environment for web and mobile and a packaged approach to make it easier for developers to make the transition to mobile.
John Andrews, vice president, marketing & product management, eBusiness, Endeca says that a mobile strategy has become essential for ecommerce vendors. "In today's connected, digital age, consumers want to shop whenever and wherever they choose, and they expect to have a consistent experience with their retailer of choice - regardless of the channel they use."
Endeca is hoping to help customers solve that problem by making the transition a bit easier.
