Endeca announces commerce suite upgrade

Endeca, a company typically known for enterprise search technology, has released an updated version of its Endeca Commerce Suite that uses Enedeca technology on the back end to help enhance the visitor experience and provide the content to make an informed purchase decision. Instead of simply presenting a list of results, the Endeca solution brings together a variety of content such as articles, video and user reviews.

Endeca says the update includes 50 enhancements with the biggest ones around content control. The content isn't just delivered randomly, but instead, marketers can pick and choose the content that visitors see using the using the updated Merchandising Workbench tool. What's more, the tool includes APIs to connect the suite to other packages of interest to marketers such as web analytics, user reviews and profiles and so forth.

Matt Rogers, general manager of Batteries.com a Commerce Suite customer, says that this targeted content is an important aspect of the service. "Endeca's new release will enable our merchandisers to deliver the most targeted and relevant content to every customer at each step on our site so we increase the likelihood that our customers will find the best product for their need, resulting in higher conversion rates."

This approach takes advantage of Endeca's search capabilities, but packages them in such a way to make them useful for web content marketers, giving them control over content, while presenting content that visitors want to see to help them make buying decisions.
