DotNetNuke releases update to Professional Edition
DotNetNuke announced this week it was releasing version 5.10 of its Professional Edition. DotNetNuke is an open source web content management system built on top of Microsoft's .net platform. They offer a free community edition and a Professional Edition which they sell for $1999. Both versions share common functionality, but the pro version adds things like complex workflow, scalability, network support and so forth. You also get full product documentation, immediate access to updates and product support.
Among the highlights in the new version:
- Google Analytics functionality such as visitor type, landing page or referrer
- Advanced content approval that allows administrators to create custom workflows with an unlimited number of states and reviewers
- File integrity checking that reviews files in the installation and reports any inconsistencies that may impact website reliability
What's more users can take advantage of an extensions marketplace where you can buy extensions for DotNetNuke in a similar fashion to the Salesforce.com Exchange, for between $50 and $500.
You can start with the Community Edition and try it out and if it works for your organization, you can upgrade to the Professional Edition when your needs require it. It gives you the benefits of open source combined with a high-end version that meets the needs of larger organizations.
