DotNetNuke releases three commercial products
DotNetNuke, a popular open source web content management system built on Microsoft's .NET platform, announced this week they were releasing three new commercial products, which build on the free core community product. These new products include:
DotNetNuke Elite Edition
This offering is designed for larger enterprise settings and offers elite customer service and support options including live phone support and extended support hours, guaranteed two-hour response time, as well as installation assistance. This gives enterprise users the flexibility of an open source solution with the hand-holding they expect from a proprietary vendor.
DotNetNuke Elite Edition Premier
This package is for organizations with five or more subscriptions--Elite Edition on steroids if you will. It is basically the same as the Elite Edition with some additional copyright features and, of course, flexible pricing. As always with enterprise software, the more you buy the better the price.
DotNetNuke Developer Support Services
These services, billed at an hourly rate, give a company access to services like developer mentoring and design, and architecture review. In other words, you get access to engineers who understand DotNetNuke and can help you design, test and implement your DotNetNuke powered sites.
When you look at an open source company, the first question you probably ask is: "How will you make money?" By taking these products and building on the core community edition, DotNetNuke is building a commercial framework around its open source offering. It gives companies using DotNetNuke, the best of both worlds because they get the power of open source community with the assurance of a company backing them up.
