DotNetNuke has officially opened its online marketplace, it has dubbed "The Store." It had been previously known as Snowcovered.

DotNetNuke (DNN) hopes to use the online market as a launching pad for developers who want to build commercial pieces on top of the DotNetNuke platform by providing add-on modules, skins and pre-packaged content types.

For example, you can go online and find a solution by type of site such as an eCommerce solution, thousands of design templates, or an add-on such as a Facebook Like button in a box (with all the code you need to add the feature).

DNN claims the store has more than 10,000 elements from hundreds of vendors.

One of the advantages of using an open source web content management package like DNN is that it provides an open architecture that makes it easy for developers to create new functionality. The Store provides a way to access all of these contributions in a single place and it also gives developers an outlet to generate revenue.

The site has been designed to make it easy to find what you're looking for with different categories easily accessible. I checked it out and found it has a clean design that's easy to navigate and if you can't find what you need via the broad categories, you can always conduct a search, which then helps you break down the search results by facet including product type, category or tag.

What's more DNN makes it easy to connect to the marketplace directly from all DNN editions from 6.0 forward.
