Cheryl McKinnon from Open Text discusses knowledge management and finding experts

Open Text had a big presence at the Enterprise 2.0 Conference in Boston this week. They were showing off their new social software platform called Open Text Social Media. The new social media tools provide a comprehensive social tool set that helps organize around individual profiles and communities of interest. They are offering an iPhone and BlackBerry version of the app out of the gate, so users have mobile access when they are away from the office.

There is a comprehensive search tool, which they demonstrated for me by entering my name in a wiki with no spaces (ronmiller), then they searched and the tool found the document with the change instantly. The search and content management tools can combine to help build a natural knowledge management and expert finding tool within the context of a social media environment.

In this interview recorded at the Enterprise 2.0 Conference, I asked Cheryl McKinnon, Director, Collaborative Content Management at Open Text, what these changes mean in terms of knowledge management and finding experts inside organizations:
