As companies develop more dynamic content--which sometimes changes according to customer needs and requirements--it raises an interesting compliance question: If companies are required to archive all web content, how do they do it when it changes dynamically?

Autonomy announced a solution this week called Autonomy Digital Safe that could help alleviate this problem. There are a couple of interesting aspects to this announcement. First of all it is a product that works in conjunction with the Interwoven TeamSite. You may recall that Autonomy purchased content management vendor Interwoven in January this year for $775 million. This product mixes Interwoven technology with Autonomy's.

The other interesting aspect of this announcement is that Digital Safe is a cloud-based solution, so that customers are storing their archived material on Autonomy's servers. Customers include financial services companies and banks such as Bank of America, Charles Schwab, Deutsche Bank, Lincoln Financial, MetLife, Morgan Stanley and many others. These companies have heavy regulatory requirements, so it's telling that they have chosen this solution.

The way it works is that TeamSite captures snapshots of the websites as they change over time and the information gets stored in Digital Safe. Anthony Bettencourt, CEO of Autonomy Interwoven says this is a great example of how the two products can work together. I expect we will begin to see other projects that take advantage of the combined company as they have more time to work together.
