Kazeon eDiscovery available for Lotus Domino

Some industry segments are required to have their ducks in a row, in case legal action requires thorough, defensible eDiscovery. Even if you don't, for many organizations it's just foolish not to have a solution in place.

According to Brian Babineau, senior analyst for the Enterprise Strategy Group, 80 percent of electronic discovery requests involve email. So, at minimum, you need to have all of your email systems integrated into any eDiscovery solution you choose. That said, requests can also come regarding data found in instant messaging communications, accounting databases, word processing documents, PDFs, wikis and many other forms, so the more of your information systems you can place under a single umbrella, the better.

What if you use an email and document system that keeps everything in a special, proprietary format? It's possible that you could use a home-grown solution, but such a setup may lose some of the metadata and other, more sophisticated features available through a commercial offering that talks directly to your server. If you're in this situation, you may want to check out Kazeon Systems.

They've been busy this year. Back in May they announced the release of the fourth generation of their eDiscovery suite, which combines modules for analysis and review, collection and culling, and legal hold management. In June, Kazeon announced an extension to integrate Microsoft SharePoint Server 2003 and 2007 with the eDiscovery suite, and now this week they've released the Kazeon eDiscovery Domino Manager. This extension allows you to use their eDiscovery suite with Lotus Domino 6, 7 and 8.

Features include the ability to cull email and documents in Domino by custodian, domain and date range, and to gather analytics and mine data so you can find relevant items.
