Acquia makes two key acquisitions
Acquia, which produces commercial versions of the open source web content management system Drupal announced two key acquisitions this week that it hopes will make it more attractive to enterprise buyers, especially those with legacy systems.
Acquia snagged Cyrve, a Drupal migration vendor, and Growing Venture Solutions, a Drupal security vendor. Both of these acquisitions will boost Acquia's ability to answer enterprise concerns about moving to Drupal.
Cyrve has been working with companies such as the travel site Kayak and The Economist's website, to migrate legacy systems. When companies move to a new system, a big concern is always going to be how they will get content from their old system into the new Drupal system. This purchase gives Acquia that ability.
Growing Ventures Solutions provides Acquia with a set of consulting services, although it appears that Acquia is most interested in the security services.
In a statement, Tom Erickson, Acquia's CEO said these two purchases provide Acquia with some key new capabilities. "Content migration and security are critical decision factors when enterprises select Drupal. These acquisitions enable Acquia to bring best-in-class migration and security expertise to our prospects, partners and customers."
GWS will be rebranded as Acquia Security Services, while Cyrve will be called Acquia Migration Services.
