WordPress
WordPress is widely known as an open source blogging platform, but many people use it as a web content management system to drive an entire web site. With this approach the blog is just one component and the other pages are also part of a complete web site, where you may have information about your company, sell products, have changing dynamic information and so forth. As an open source product, a big strength of the system is the plug-ins and themes community members build for the basic WordPress offering. You can find existing templates and tools that you can use as is or build upon depending on your needs.
WordPress currently has more than 3400 plug-ins available that included a myriad of tools such as a one for tracking stats, search engine optimization tools, one for posting directly to Twitter from your blog and so many more. There are plug-ins for practically anything you can think of and there are also over 700 themes available with a variety of styles and layouts to suit every mood or web site approach. Of course, you are also free to design your own WordPress theme from scratch to give you a completely unique look. The site lets users rate and tag the plug-ins and themes giving you the power of the community to help you choose the ones that work for your needs from the large selection. The community component is particularly important to WordPress and there is a place to post your ideas for improving the WordPress CMS and for complaining about things you don't like.
