On May 21, printing and imaging solutions company Lexmark International, announced that it would purchase Perceptive Software for approximately $280 million. Enterprise content management company, Perceptive Software, was desirable for it's strength in the higher education, healthcare and government verticals. What's more, Perceptive software was able to be quickly and easily configured, and integrated with a large number of ERP, CRM and line-of-business applications.

"The acquisition of Perceptive Software builds upon and strengthens our current industry workflow solutions, and broadens the portfolio of offerings to our current customers including our managed print services customers," said Lexmark CEO and Chairman Paul J. Curlander, at the time of the purchase.

Scott Coons, Perceptive Software's president and chief executive officer was also optimistic at the time of purchase, and said being linked to Lexmark would accelerate Perceptive's growth due to the company's global footprint and broad enterprise reach. Perceptive Software retained its current name and now operates as a stand-alone software business within Lexmark.
