Joomla!

Joomla! is an open source web site content management system. In many ways, it's a lot like WordPress, but instead of being best known as a blogging platform, it's better known as a tool for building and managing web sites, which could also include a blog. Like WordPress (and many open source tools), there is a strong community of people behind the system constantly prodding and pushing and moving it forward to make it better. Also like WordPress, there are more than 4000 free extensions available to enhance your web site in many ways including shopping carts, calendars, streaming tools, database tools and so many more.

There is a community of people available to help you, but also an extensive set of online documentation for designers, developers and web site administrators. The Joomla! projects claims to have more than 200,000 users and contributors, which means you can count on it being around for some time to come. Organizations using Joomla! include the United Nations, Harvard University and IHOP restaurants.
