Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE [1]) announced this week it was coming out with a new version of eLearning Suite 2 [2] and Captivate 5, both of which will have versions for Mac and Windows. Previous versions only worked with Windows. The suite includes:
The new suite boasts tighter integration among the products, even providing a way for Flash developers to run Captivate from within Flash without having to open Captivate to do it. With all of the talk of Flash in recent weeks, it's easy to forget there are still loads of developers inside enterprises developing on the Flash platform, whether Steve Jobs approves or not [3].
Captivate 5 is the centerpiece of the suite (although it can also be purchased as a stand-alone tool). It provides a way for non-technical trainers to create attractive and professional online training materials. The training can even be linked to a Learning Management System (LMS) to track student progress if required.
With tighter training budgets resulting in less and less in-person classroom training, a tool like Captivate 5 provides a way to deliver the training in a cost-effective manner without regard to location.
