Kentico is offering a powerful CMS with unlimited licenses for free. The software is based on asp.net, so you need to have a Windows system, and as you would expect, the catch is that there are some fairly substantial limitations on your use of the product. For instance, you are limited to one editor and one global administrator per website, compared with an unlimited number for the pay version. In addition, you have to agree to include a 'Powered by Kentico CMS' logo in the footer of every page. The free version includes other limitations such as having Preview Before Publish, and check in/check out disabled. There currently are three levels of pay versions of the software: Ecommerce, Professional and Enterprise.
Larger companies could think of the free version as an unlimited trial edition, which could be useful for loading or in a testing environment. The free version could also suffice for a small business with fewer than 10 employees, where the disabled features won't matter as much. Either way, it gives you the opportunity to look at the interface and get a sense of the features without making an investment.
